One man escaped injury, but his house was destroyed in a fire Monday Night in Du Quoin.
Du Quoin Fire Chief Bob Shaw says the fire department was called at 7:54 p.m. Monday to a house on Old Du Quoin Road.
Blake Furlow was asleep inside the house when the smoke alarms woke him up. He escaped through the back door without injury.
Shaw says Furlow’s wife, who is a member of the Du Quoin Fire Department, and their kids were at their in-laws’ house at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
