The Jackson County Board is expected to vote tomorrow to incorporate Union and Alexander counties into the Jackson-Perry Regional Office of Education.
This move comes in advance of a state mandate that is expected to start in 2015. The state government wants to downsize the amount of regional offices for the Department of Education.
The new regional offices have to serve districts of at least 61,000 residents.
