The trial of a man accused of severely burning his girlfriend is being delayed.
28-year-old Christopher Rollins was supposed to start his trial on Tuesday, but a motion filed yesterday during his appearance in Franklin County Circuit Court pushed that back.
The motion says that Rollins was unsatisfied with his representation, and the court appointed a new public defender for him.
State’s Attorney Evan Owens said in court that the motion was nothing more than a delaying tactic.
Rollins is accused of throwing lighter fluid on 22-year-old Tessa Leech during an argument in August.
A pretrial conference is set for May 2.
