Carbondale, Ill. – Southern Illinois University says campus liquor and drug law violations increased in 2013 while robberies and burglaries decreased.

Crime statistics from the SIU Department of Public Safety show there were 73 arrests for liquor law violations in 2013, up from 33 in 2012. More than 90 arrests were made for drug law violations in 2013. That’s 30 more than in 2012.

The report says burglaries dropped from 64 to 24, and the department reported one robbery. Six sexual assaults were reported in 2013. There were eight reported in 2012 and four in 2011.
