Firefighters fought two house fires in West Frankfort overnight.

The first started around 2:30 in the 900 block of South Jackson Street. The flames from that fire ignited a neighbor’s home.

No one was inside the first home at the time of the fire. A woman and her pet escaped from the second home.

The cause is still being investigated.
