Shedret McQueen, Jr.

A 19-year-old Carbondale man has been sentenced to one year behind bars on gun and drug charges.

Shedret McQueen, Jr pleaded guilty to the felony charges of Aggravated Unlawful use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

According to the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, McQueen was involved in a fight in Carbondale in November of last year. Police broke up the fight, but McQueen fled on foot. The other person involved claimed the fight started after McQueen had pointed a gun at him.

McQueen was later taken into custody, at the time of his arrest, police found a .22 caliber handgun and illegal drugs in his possession.
