For the second time in just as many days, an accident involving a pull behind camper trailer has happened on a Southern Illinois interstate.

According to State Police, just after 7:00 AM Thursday, 86 year old Charles Sparks of Belleville, rolled his truck and trailer near the West Frankfort exits on northbound interstate 57.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Sparks’ was passing another vehicle when his tires dropped off the side of the pavement. Sparks overcorrected, lost control, resulting in the roll over of both the truck and camper.

Sparks had to be cut out of his vehicle by members of the West Frankfort Fire Department. He was then transported to a local hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries.
