An autopsy is scheduled for today as the investigation continues into an apparent murder-suicide in Herrin.
Williamson County Coroner Junior Burke said police were called to a home in the 600 block of North 31st Street around 9:15 Saturday night.
Initial reports indicate that Gregory Kinser of Herrin shot Toni Ladd of Herrin, then turned the gun on himself.
Kinser was pronounced dead on the scene, Burke said. Toni Ladd was taken by ambulance from the scene, transferred to a St. Louis Hospital, and later died.
Illinois State Police, Herrin Police and Burke’s office all continue to investigate this case.
