CARBONDALE — SIU officials are investigating graffiti messages that were found on Faner Hall Monday morning.

Pictures were circulating immediately on social media. The painted messages refer to student loan debt, administrator salaries, and one previewing a potential protest for May 2nd.

The messages state “Riot proof? We’ll see”, “Debt rules everything around me”, and “Monthly, monthly bills, y’all”.

By afternoon, the graffiti was cleaned and painted over. Reports state the university is considering the act as criminal damage to state property, and the person/people responsible could face felony charges.
