Kathleen Falk, Midwest regional director of the federal Department of Health and Human Services, says Illinois customers under the Affordable Care Act will see less of an increase in 2016 than the 7.5 percent national average.

The state average premium is up 6.1 percent, compared to 7.5 percent for the nation.

“In Illinois, the average savings for those who switched from 2014 to 2015 was about eleven dollars a month. That saved consumers about $2.7 million statewide, and, in fact, 21 percent of Illinoisans switched plans.”

The enrollment period is November, December, and January.
