A recent poll by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at SIU shows that getting access to VA Healthcare is the greatest challenge posed to veterans today, as was determined by 46.2% of those polled.

Almost 25% said unemployment, underemployment, and job placement were said to be the biggest issue, while 3.4% said homelessness was the toughest obstacle they faced.

When it came to healthcare, almost 27% said waiting times were the worst part of the process, while 16% said that issues with mental health, PTSD, drug and alcohol abuse or suicide were the hardest.
