SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner has made several cabinet secretary and agency appointments, including the top posts at the Labor, Human Rights and Financial and Professional Regulation departments and the Illinois State Police.

Rauner on Friday named Hugo Chaviano, an employment and contract lawyer, director of the Illinois Department of Labor.

Chicago Police Department Deputy Chief Leo Schmitz was named state police director. Schmitz, a 30-year veteran of the department, currently commands the Englewood district.

Rodger Heaton, a former U.S. attorney for central Illinois, was named the Rauner administration’s public safety director.

Rauner reappointed Rocco Claps as Human Rights Department director, a post he’s held for 12 years.

Chicago Public Schools chief operating officer Tom Tyrrell was named Central Management Services director and Walgreens attorney Bryan Schneider was named secretary of the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
