An investigation continues into a Saturday shooting in Brookport.

45-year old DeWayne Sharp of Paducah was allegedly shot by 64-year old Terry Babs of Brookport inside Babs’ home.

Massac County Deputies and IL State Troopers surrounded Babs’ home and waited approximately one hour before Babs left the home without incident.

Family members reportedly contacted Babs during this time and urged Babs to give himself up.

The Brookport Bridge was closed for a short time during the incident.

Sharp was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Babs was arrested and incarcerated in the Massac County Jail, before being released yesterday.

Babs has yet to be charged with a crime.
