A traffic stop in Wayne County led to the arrests of two Virginia residents.

Illinois State Police stopped a U-haul truck with only one working headlight near mile marker 110 on Interstate 64. The trooper allegedly smelled marijuana while speaking with the driver.

A K-9 unit was brought in to search the vehicle, and during the search, officers found marijuana, methamphetamine, a rifle, two handguns, ammunition for said guns, and around $12,000 in cash.

The driver, 24-year old Nathan Morean of Virginia Beach was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon, cannabis possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The vehicle’s passenger, 23-year old Kristina Rayburn, also of Virginia Beach was arrested for meth possession, cannabis possession, unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were arrested and are incarcerated in the Wayne County Jail pending a court appearance.
