BENTON, Ill. (AP) — A southern Illinois man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for setting his girlfriend on fire.

The Associated Press reports 30-year-old Christopher Rollins of West Frankfort was sentenced Tuesday morning in Franklin County Court. He was convicted in September of dousing Tessa Leech with cleaning solvent and setting her ablaze. Rollins had accused her of being unfaithful.

Leech survived the August 2012 attack but was burned over much of her body.

Rollins waived his right to trial by jury and had a one-day bench trial. He has been in custody at the Franklin County jail since he was arrested in August 2012.
