PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A southern Illinois man charged with first-degree murder is being held on $5 million bond in Perry County.

The Associated Press reports 61-year-old William Farnsworth of Coulterville was charged Monday in the death of 51-year-old Jeffrey Harris. Authorities say Farnsworth shot Harris with a 12-gauge shotgun on Friday in Coulterville.

Perry County sheriff’s deputies found Harris dead in his car. They say Farnsworth was at the scene when authorities arrived.

Farnsworth faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
