CHICAGO (AP) — The latest report card on Illinois schools is out, offering parents and school administrators a host of new features and benchmarks to pore over.

Among the new statistics in Friday’s report on the 2013-2014 school year is one showing that more than 70 percent of recent graduates enrolled in college. But another measurement tracked by the report showed fewer than half of students were deemed ready for college coursework.

Other data gathered for the first time included the number of high school freshmen on track to graduate, which topped 87 percent. The rate of teacher retention by schools was about 86 percent. And principal turnover at each school was tracked at a statewide average of about two over the past six years.

Standardized test performance remained roughly unchanged.
