A Murphysboro man has been arrested after a traffic stop Saturday morning.

25 year old Jeremiah Oats was arrested around 2 AM and he was charged with unlawful use of a handgun by a felon after a loaded handgun was found in his car.

Police have said that a passenger got out of the car and ran from the vehicle. Police say that the person has been identified, but has not been found.

Oats was taken to the Jackson County jail, and the incident is still under investigation.
