Marion, Ill. – Marion Fire Department Capt. Jerry Odum has been appointed by Marion’s Mayor to become the next fire chief.

Bob Butler told us on the Morning Newswatch Tuesday.

“We do have a good man replacing Jack Reed. Jerry Odum, he’s an experienced fireman. He’s been serving in the capacity of Captain for several years. Very knowledgeable, very personable fella. He’s going to do a great job.”

Odum will take over for Reed on August 22, pending approval from the city council.
