Illinois Manufacturers’ Association Endorses Rauner

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) — A major business organization has endorsed Republican Bruce Rauner for Illinois governor.

The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association announced its endorsement Thursday at a family-owned company in Schaumburg.

Greg Baise is president and CEO of the association, which represents about 4,000 companies and facilities.

He says manufacturing jobs are disappearing because Illinois has a hostile business climate. Baise says: “It’s time that Illinois has a governor who is fully committed to creating a pro-growth economic strategy.”

Rauner faces Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn in the Nov. 4 election.

The endorsement came during a news conference where Rauner rolled out his plan to improve the economy. It includes making a tax credit permanent for manufacturers. Currently lawmakers must reauthorize the credit every five years.

The association has donated $250,000 to Rauner’s campaign.
