CAIRO, Ill. (AP) — The city of Cairo will honor two bank workers that were killed during a stabbing at a bank.

Two pink granite benches will be placed in Halliday Park in memory of Anita Joe Grace of Olive Branch and Nita Jo Smith of Wickliffe, Kentucky.

The two women were found fatally stabbed in May at Cairo’s First National Bank. A third worker survived the attack and will be honored with a tree and marker in the park.

Authorities later arrested 29-year-old James Watts, and he’s charged in federal court with attempted armed bank robbery resulting in death. He has pleaded not guilty and will stand trial in January.
