Benton, Ill. – Funeral services will be Saturday for former Congressman Ken Gray.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the Benton Civic Center with funeral services beginning at 4 p.m., according to the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home.

The so-called “Prince of Pork” died Saturday night at the age of 89. Historian Jon Musgrave says it would be hard to find someone who didn’t like Gray.

“He was a great storyteller. He had the gift of gab. He never let an inconvenient fact get in the way of a good story. He could walk into a room and be friends with everybody.”

Gray brought around $7 billion dollars to the area with projects like Interstate 57, the Marion Prison and Rend Lake.
