Williamson County, Ill. – Seven people were sent to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 57.

Illinois State Police say the crash happened near the Marion exit around 9:20 a.m. Thursday. Three vehicles were involved.

Police say a vehicle driven by 68-year-old Renda West of Hickman, Kentucky was travelling in the left lane when she missed her exit and slowed down below the minimum speed limit. The driver of the second vehicle behind her, a van, tried breaking to avoid hitting her, but a semi-truck behind the van could not stop and hit the van into the back of the first car.

Seven people in the van – the driver and six teenagers, were sent to the hospital for minor injuries. West was charged with violating the minimum speed regulation.
