Carterville, Ill. – A local community college president is one of six finalists for the same position at a college in Texas.

The Hill College Board of Regents put Dr. Michael Dreith from John A. Logan College on their list of candidates for the presidency of the college in Hillsboro, Texas.

Dreith joined Tom Miller on The Morning Newswatch Thursday and discussed the matter.

Dreith: “I owed it to myself to at least listen.”
Miller: “But it’s not because of any unhappiness with what’s going here?”
Dreith: “No, no.”
Miller: “Because I’ve never detected that for one second.”
Dreith: “No, no, I have a wonderful staff and we do good things here, but like I said, I thought it was important to at least listen, so we’ll see where that leads us.”

Dreith served as President of Western Texas College from 2007 until 2012, when he was hired as President of John A. Logan College.

The Joshua Star in Texas reports the candidates will visit campus, conduct multiple interview and participate in open community forums until June 13.
