PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A woman has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for a home invasion count linked to the 2010 death of her teenage half sister.

Dakota Wall pleaded guilty in April after Perry County prosecutors dropped murder, kidnapping and burglary charges. She was sentenced Wednesday.

Wall was among several people charged after the investigation into the slaying of 15-year-old Sidnee Stephens of Pinckneyville.

Authorities say Stephens was shot and strangled before her body was found in a creek.

Two other men are serving prison terms in connection with the case. A third defendant was convicted for the murder but killed himself in jail before being transferred to state prison.

A judge credited Wall with the nearly two and a half years she has spent jailed in the case.
